What to expect during a saddle fitting with Claire

Fittings include:

-Taking of horse and rider history - any current issues, etc.

-Evaluation of the saddle(s) for soundness and symmetry

-Static evaluation of horse with and without saddle

-Back tracings of the horse (as needed)

-Dynamic (riding) evaluation of horse and rider

-Minor flocking adjustment if needed (extra fee applies, only available for wool saddles)

-Padding or girth recommendations as needed

-New saddle recommendations (if needed)

-Expect 1-1.5 hours total to complete . If appointment goes longer than 1.5 hours an extra fee will apply

-Pricing is per horse

Right to Refuse Service

During all fitting appointments I will determine whether it is appropriate or not to conduct a fitting at that current moment and reserve the right to stop the appointment at anytime. Reasons to refuse a fitting might include extreme back soreness or tenderness, limping, or behaviors deemed potentially too dangerous for myself as well as the owner. It is extremely rare that fittings are refused as I want to do everything possible to help the horse and owner. In the event this does occur I will make recommendations to the owner of what their next steps should be (physical therapy, body work, vet appointment, etc) and will schedule a follow-up appointment. The only fee that will apply for a refused fitting is the travel fee.

Continuing Support

Saddle fittings are not one and done appointments, on average they are needed 1-2 times a year for as long as you are riding your horse. There are many reasons a horse's back can change over their lifetime and I am here to support you through all of those changes. I will always make recommendations with the horse's comfort at the forefront.
